# Shield assets

## Shield assets

Shielding moves a public balance into the shielded pool.

### Steps

1. Generate a valid Okkult Proof if the flow requires it.
2. Open the shield flow in the app.
3. Choose the asset and amount.
4. Approve token spending if the asset is an `ERC-20`.
5. Submit the shield transaction.
6. Wait for confirmation and note the new shielded state.

### Fees

| Item        | Value        |
| ----------- | ------------ |
| Shield fee  | `0.20%`      |
| Network fee | Ethereum gas |

### Notes

* Keep enough ETH for gas.
* Verify the selected asset and amount before submission.
* Save any recovery material the app shows.
